| Wed 12th May | Style a tree competition | We divide those present into teams of three or four (depending on how many attend) and give each team a shrub of nursery stock. In the course of the evening they have to turn it into a bonsai and the winning team gets a small prize | ||

| Wed 14th July | Techniques for taking photos of bonsais | Members should bring along a tree to photograph along with their own digital camera. This is a practical session. Advice will be given on: how to position the tree, what sort of background to use, lighting etc. | ||
